Sacred cacti have been used continuously for over 3,000 years in the Andean Mountains region.

San Pedro is named after St Peter who holds the keys to heaven as the cactus is believed to allow one to reach heaven while still on earth.

Trichocereus cactus typically grow between 10-20ft tall in the wild with the tallest recorded specimen reaching 40ft.

While Peruvian Torch is not as well known as San Pedro it's widely believed to be most powerful of the Trichocereus family.

Peyote is considered one of the four principal deities of the Huichol religion and it's use dates back over 5,000 years.

Another beautiful member of the San Pedro family, also known as the Peruvian torch or Echinopsis peruviana (syn. Trichocereus peruvianus). This cactus has been used as a religious sacrament by a small number of Indian tribes in northern Peru. It’s probably the most powerful and magical species from the Echinopsis family.

The Peruvian torch grows high in the Andean mountain deserts of Peru and Ecuador and is similar to the San Pedro cactus (Echinopsis pachanoi) which is found in the same region. The human use of the cactus dates back thousands of years to the northern coast of Peru and the monks of a pre-Inca culture known as Chavín (900 BC to 200 BC). They prepared a brew called “achuma”, “huachuma” or “cimora” which was used during ritualistic ceremonies to diagnose the spiritual links to a patient’s illness.

Ordered Peruvian torch cactus from botanic elevation last month and I was a little hesitant as I had not heard much about the supplier, but after receiving the products I was very pleasantly surprised. It’s definitely authentic p.torch with high alkaloid content. Will definitely be buying from here again soon!
